department of families, fairness and housing: life skills toolkit
Areas of impact: Australian youth
Content specialities used for this project: content writing, content workflows, content governance and stakeholder management

Victoria’s Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) is responsible for child protection, prevention of family violence, housing, disability, LGBTIQA+ equality, veterans, and the offices for women and youth.
In 2011, its office for youth established Youth Central — a website packed with information to support young Australians with questions about jobs, studying and housing options.
In 2023, the platform went through a review. This was to make sure its content was still relevant and that organisations supporting young people could access correct and up-to-date information.
The outcome of this review was the decision to co-design and develop an online skills-for-life toolkit for young Australians.
The brief
The Work
the work
After an extensive co-design process with young people, a content strategy, IA and detailed content plan were all developed.
At this stage in the project, I came in and started the content writing process:
new content types designed
writing and editing content pages
pair-writing with stakeholders
running weekly feedback sessions
overseeing content governance and workflow
The final online toolkit, Youth Nav, gives young Australians the information and support they need to live a more independent life as young adults.
